17. Oregon Ducks (9-2, 4-1)

It doesn’t matter how good you are or how good they are; winning back-to-back at Colorado and Utah in a span of a few days is nearly impossible. Oregon once again found that out this week, falling at the Buffs despite 27 points from Chris Duarte. They nearly lost at Utah this weekend before Duarte and his 25 points led to a comeback effort in the second half.

Oregon is now back home, this time against Arizona and Arizona State, a pair of teams who got swept in the past several days. The Ducks will have to be prepared for some highly motivated teams but as long as Duarte continues his scoring run, they should be alright.

16. Virginia Cavaliers (7-2, 3-0)

Despite the issues and concerns that came from the non-conference portion of the schedule, the Cavaliers were able to defeat both Boston College and Wake Forest to go to 3-0 to start ACC play. Sam Hauser had a double-double in both wins and is starting to establish himself as the star of the team.

Virginia will look for Hauser to lead them to another pair of wins this upcoming week, first against Notre Dame at home before taking on Clemson Saturday on the road. That game will be a ‘first to 50’ type of matchup, as both are right near the top nationally in scoring defense.

15. Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-3, 3-2)

Against arguably the two worst teams in the Big 12 (Kansas State and Iowa State), the Red Raiders were able to take care of business without too much trouble. Versus the Wildcats, Terrence Shannon Jr. led the way off the bench with 22 points. And against the Cyclones, Kyler Edwards and Mac McClung combined for 37 points, while Kevin McCullar had 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Things will get much tougher for Texas Tech this week, facing No. 4 Texas on the road and No. 2 Baylor at home. They’ll be the underdogs in both matchups but if the Red Raiders can get at least a split, it’ll be a massive victory overall for the season.
