4. SMU Mustangs

A pretty regular member near the top of the league and this year is no different. Kendric Davis is living up to his All-AAC First Team selection and leads the league in assists (top 5 in the nation), points-per-game, and is right up there for steals and shooting percentage. His supporting cast makes the mustangs the top-scoring team in the conference, and also lead in made 3-pointers and assists-per-game.

Just about everyone on this team can score at will, with four players averaging double figures and a few not far off. The Mustangs are solid, well-coached, and could get into the bubble discussion with a few more strong wins.

Coach Tim Jankovich got off to a pretty incredible start putting up 30 wins in his first full year but hasn’t made the postseason since. This looks to be the most competitive team SMU has had since the 2015-16 season, which consisted of multiple future NBA and overseas professionals, and even NFL star Courtland Sutton. The tournament might be a bit of a stretch goal but still within reach.
