Bracketology 2021: BYU, Utah State, and Virginia among biggest winners
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Big 12 has had a rough week when it came to covid issues, Multiple games were postponed and some teams had to go on pause. One of them is the Oklahoma State Cowboys, which took away Saturday’s rivalry matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners.
But the reason why Ok State made this list is what happened before they had to go on break. They took on Kansas on Tuesday, a major opportunity for a quality home win. They looked as if they were going to take advantage early on, taking a double-digit lead for a good portion of the game. However, the Jayhawks came back late to take a lead. But thanks to star guard Cade Cunningham (18 points) and senior shooter Bryce Williams (17 points), the Cowboys held on to take the massive 75-70 victory.
That improved Oklahoma State to 9-3 on the season, and now 4-2 in Quad 1 games. Kansas now joins Texas Tech as the marquee resume victories for the team, with a little boost of seeing both Marquette and Wichita State, two teams the Cowboys also beat early on, doing better as of late as well.
Right now, Oklahoma State is appealing its postseason ban for recruiting violations to the NCAA. Knowing them, it likely won’t be resolved until after the NCAA Tournament. So they’ll be included in Bracketology talk going forward. And thanks to the win against Kansas, the Cowboys are one step closer to getting there.
