8. North Carolina Tar Heels (9-5, 4-3)

The best way to describe UNC Basketball this season is “average”, hence being placed right in the middle of the league. They have conference wins over Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Miami, while losing to NC State, Florida State, and Georgia Tech. An optimistic sign for the Tar Heels was Caleb Love going for a team-high 20 points in this week’s win over the Demon Deacons including making 2/3 from deep.

If the Tar Heels can get any kind of consistent shooting from the perimeter, they can certainly make a run towards the top-4 of the ACC standings. They’ll have a chance to move up the standings with a revenge game against NC State, followed by three straight road battles at Clemson, Pittsburgh, and Duke.

7. Pittsburgh Panthers (8-2, 4-1)

They only played three games so far this month but Pittsburgh won them all, including a season-sweep over Syracuse that included a 20-point beatdown, along with a huge program-defining home victory over Duke earlier this week. Justin Champagnie, who is averaging an absurd 20.3 ppg and 13.0 ppg this season, tied a career-high with 31 points in the win.

The Panthers are in the bubble conversation and look to avoid a bad loss this Saturday at Wake Forest. If they can get past them, they’ll have three straight back at home that includes North Carolina and Virginia Tech.
