Florida State Seminoles

Though it’s still one of the premier college basketball conferences, the ACC may lack a true national title favorite this season. Virginia has looked incredible in recent weeks, but this is a team with flaws. Duke and North Carolina have really fallen off the map this season, while even mighty programs like Louisville and Syracuse have struggled with consistency. Meanwhile, last year’s regular-season champion has been playing much better ball.

After falling out of the rankings a few weeks back, Florida State has been playing inspired basketball and topped that off with two great wins this week. This past Monday, they went to Louisville and knocked off the Cardinals by 13, getting a 17-point, 8-rebound effort from Raiquan Gray to lead the way. Then, the Seminoles took care of business against #20 Clemson on Saturday, beating the Tigers by 19.

Florida State will certainly use this successful week to jump back into the national conversation. The Seminoles are 5-1 in ACC play and have a home date with Virginia in a few weeks, the only team above them in the conference. That home loss to UCF back in December still reeks, but the Seminoles are clearly putting it past them.

Obviously, there are plenty more enticing games on Florida State’s schedule that will go a long way to determining their seeding, but this is certainly an NCAA Tournament team through and through. If the Seminoles can run this 4-game winning streak even longer, then they could certainly be looking at another ACC title.
