Everything was going in favor of their Bears on Monday against Kansas State. Led by 17 made three-pointers, 23 assists, and a 41-23 advantage on the boards, Baylor throttled Kansas State, 107-59.
Davion Mitchell had a career-high 31 points on 7 of 9 shooting from beyond the arc. Baylor got out to a ferocious 17-2 run and led by as much as 34 in the first half.
The Bears beat the Wildcats back in December by 31 points in Manhattan. Baylor somehow managed to outperform themselves, with elite shooting and lockdown defense.
Kansas State had just one player in double figures and shot 34 percent from the field. To go alongside that, they shot 23 percent from beyond the arc and had 21 turnovers. The Baylor defense was relenting all night and the offense could not miss a shot at times.
Baylor had a challenge on their hands when facing off against Sharife Cooper and Auburn. The Bears were able to hold Cooper to just 15 points on 6-17 shooting from the field and four turnovers.
The Bears leading scorer was Adam Flagler, as he finished with 19 points on 8-12 shooting from the field. Matthew Mayer added 13 more as part of the team’s 38 points off of the bench.
Baylor will have another big task on Tuesday, with a potential Top 10 showdown in Austin.
