Washington Huskies – Jamal Bey

The Washington Huskies have had a disappointing year. After finishing last in the PAC 12 last year you thought Mike Hopkins squad would bounce back some from the year before. At 3-13 and currently the last place team in the conference you would expect there not to be a whole lot of bright spots. But Jamal Bey has had a good season and shown some improvement from last year.

Bey, who was known as a good defender in Washington’s zone has greatly improved his offense this season. He has improved his scoring from 5.7 points to 9.6 and his field goal percentage has been up 11% shooting 47.7% from the field and 37% the year before. His greatest improvement though has been behind the arc. Bey has shot a super impressive 52.6% from three after going 25.4 percent from the year before. He has made more total three’s at 30 than he did last year at 18.

In the last 7 games, Bey has shot 13-23 from three. A problem with the Huskies the last few years has been the lack of player development. Bey has been an exception with the development of his jumper and is a guy you need to know.
