Pac-12 Basketball: Underappreciated player from each team for 2020-21
Oregon State Beavers – Jarod Lucas
Oregon State has had kinda a weird season going 9-7 overall and 5-5 in conference play. They have some bad losses like at home against Wyoming and Portland. But they also have a couple of good wins as in Oregon and USC. The Beavers are coming off a recent 91-71 win against Washington.
A player who has been good for them that’s come out of nowhere is sophmore guard Jarod Lucas. Lucas is averaging 13.1 points per game to go along with 39.3 percent from the field and 43.25percent from three. He has greatly improved those numbers from last season, where he shot 35.1 percent from the field 34.2 percent from three and scored 4.6 points per game.
Even though the field goal percentage isn’t super impressive he’s been playing much better as of late. In January Lucas averaged 14.1 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting and an impressive 49 percent from three. He’s also played a lot better in wins scoring 14.1 points per game compared to 11.9 and has shot 46.3 percent from the field compared to 35.7.
Lucas has been a pretty big part of Oregon State turning around their season and while just a Sophmore is a guy you should be watching forward.
