Big Ten Basketball: Rivals Michigan, Ohio State leads latest power rankings
By Adam Childs
The Buckeyes are one of the hottest teams in the country and have jumped all the way up to number four in the country. They are one spot behind their hated rivals Michigan just like they are in these power rankings.
Ohio State has won eight of their last nine and have won at Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin during that time. Besides not beating in either of their matchups they have looked like one of the best in the country.
We knew Ohio State would be good, but not this good. Chris Holtmann has once again done a great job in Columbus.
All eyes will now be on the 21st when Michigan comes to town in what should be a great matchup.
The Wolverines have been on pause for the last two weeks and it seems like that has been the only thing that could have slowed them down. Before they pause they weren’t just beating teams, they were blowing them out.
Juwan Howard has built a power at Michigan and they were showing it. They are one of the most balanced teams in the Big Ten and can get scoring from five different guys. That balance has made Michigan one of the most dangerous teams in the country. That and they play extremely well on the defensive side also.
It will be interesting to see how they come out of this pause and they have no time to ease in as they head to Wisconsin this weekend. The Badgers will be looking for revenge after the blowout earlier in the season.
The Wolverines have a two-game lead in the Big Ten, but with games still against Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Iowa they still have a lot of work to do. But for now, they are the top team in the Big Ten.
