Baylor Basketball: 5 teams that can beat the Bears in 2020-21 season
By Andrew Tineo
Texas Tech hung around with Baylor and played them arguably the toughest. It was two late three-pointers from Jared Butler, that would edge the Bears over the Red Raiders.
Among the top playmakers and clutch performers in the conference, Mac McClung has become one, since transferring from Georgetown.
A key for the Red Raiders over the past month has been the insertion of Kevin McCullar into the starting lineup. He’s shooting over 50 percent in three of the previous four games, as well as, six or more rebounds in those three games.

The Red Raiders match the Bears’ intensity on the defensive end. Texas Tech ranks fourth in the conference in points per game allowed and 23rd in the nation. In their first meeting, Texas Tech held the Bears to just 68 points and 41 percent from the field.
Even if they forced 16 turnovers, Texas Tech had 20 of their own. McClung had 24, but the rest of the team only had 36 in the contest. Shannon and Burton combined for 1-13 from the field off the bench and three-point shooting was not good, just 6-24.
Texas Tech has the defense to keep up with just about any team and has athletic guards to contain Baylor. The continuous theme has been if the Red Raiders can match Baylor’s intensity for 40 minutes.
If the Red Raiders can do that in Waco, they have a good chance. It will be an even taller feat, as the Red Raiders have not beaten Baylor in Waco since 2016.
