13. Fordham Rams

  • 2020-21 record: 2-11 overall, 2-11 A-10
  • Previous ranking: 13th

Fordham continues to be a bizarre ballclub.  When the last rankings were published, Jeff Neubauer was still the head coach and the Rams were losers of five-straight.  Fast forward to now, and Neubauer is gone and Fordham has another win under its belt.

The Rams are still not great – they were blown out by 24 points by Duquesne, 32 at George Mason, and 28 at Saint Louis – but they hung around with UMass in a six-point road loss while usurping the upstart La Salle Explorers back on February 6th.  That win saw five Rams reach double-digits, with Ty Perry leading the way off the bench with 18 points – and Fordham shot stellar clips of 52.2% (2PT) and 44.0% (3PT).

But Fordham’s offensive woes – which have plagued them all season – came to a head in the Rams’ two most recent showings.  In a 77-45 romp for George Mason, Fordham shot just 37.1% inside – and an abysmal 21.1% from long-range.  Averaging 0.64 points per possession and turning the ball over 16 times, the Rams saw just two players reach double-figures in Joel Soriano (15) and Josh Navarro (11).

In a 68-40 loss to Saint Louis, Fordham was slightly better in PPP at 0.67 – but even worse in shooting the ball, at 31.4% (2PT) and 16.7% (3PT).  The Rams will not have it any easier in their next go-arounds, hitting the road for back-to-back games at St. Bonaventure and Richmond.
