Arkansas

With the season coming down towards the end, picking up wins becomes harder and harder especially as the pressure builds. In the power conference leagues, the opportunities for success in big wins come more often, and that schedule sure paid off for the Razorbacks this week.

Though they’re certainly having a down season, Arkansas still pulled out the impressive victory against Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Tuesday. Then on Saturday, the Razorbacks secured a much more valuable prize, going on the road and knocking off #10 Missouri in overtime. Justin Smith had 19 points and 6 rebounds as the Razorbacks shot the ball well to get the big upset win.

Arkansas rises to 16-5, 8-4 in SEC play. They’ve suffered some rough losses along the way, losing blowouts to Alabama and LSU about a month ago, but have been playing much better basketball these past few weeks. Sandwiching a loss to Oklahoma State, they’ve now won six straight SEC games, with these two road victories clearly the most significant.

The Razorbacks are a talented team that seems to be gelling together at the right time, something that’s happened before for Eric Musselman back when he was at Nevada. Arkansas has a few more challenging games on their schedule, but every win they pull off will only help them rise up the seedlines. Barring some sort of collapse, we will hear Arkansas’s name called out on Selection Sunday, and the seed could be higher than you think if this current run continues.
