NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Boston College transfer Wynston Tabbs
Missouri Tigers
It’s been a strong campaign for the Tigers, currently ranked and in position to make the NCAA Tournament. They’ve been led by a core group of upperclassmen, all of whom will need to be replaced soon. That includes guards Dru and Mark Smith, along with big man Jeremiah Tilmon.
Leading scorer and combo guard Xavier Pinson will be back but other than Javon Pickett, there’s not much-projected backcourt production returning for 2021-22. Adding a veteran upperclassman such as Tabbs could boost Missouri in its hopes to make it back-to-back trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Ole Miss Rebels
A late-season run by the Rebels has them on the bubble and with a shot to make the NCAA Tournament. They’ve been led by senior guard Devontae Shuler (16.3 ppg and 3.7 apg) and big man Romello White, both of whom likely won’t be around next season. Junior guard Jarkell Joiner will come back but the team will need some more experience, especially considering that former top-40 recruit Matthew Murrell is only putting up 4.0 ppg on the year.
Ole Miss is bringing in another top-40 freshman this offseason in point guard Daeshun Ruffin, which will take care of the ball-handling duties. But they’ll need some shooting as well, which is something Tabbs can provide. Head coach Kermit Davis has shown a willingness to enter the transfer portal to land talent and to remain in the top half of the SEC, will need to do it again this offseason.
