What kind of pace will this game be played at?

Both Ohio State and Michigan have been two of the top offenses in the Big Ten, each averaging over 75 ppg in league play. The teams have numerous occasions of scoring at least 80 points in a number of high-scoring matchups.

Yet since coming off the pause, the Wolverines offense has taken a little while to get into gear, scoring 71 and 67 points respectively in the past two games. Both Wisconsin and Rutgers are physical defenses but they’ll need more than 71 points to beat Ohio State, who averages 78.1 ppg on the season. The Buckeyes can play at a faster pace and in this situation, should look to push the ball against Michigan while they’re still getting off a little rust.

On the other hand, Michigan should have an easier time scoring against a fairly average Ohio State defense. They’ve allowed 80+ points at least three times in league play, while the Wolverines hasn’t given up more than 75 points in a given game. While both offenses are top notch, there’s a clear advantage given to Michigan when comparing defensive units.

Their versatility and depth has worn down almost every opponent they have played, which is a reason why they’ve still been able to win even after he long break. But against Ohio State, Michigan will probably want to limit the total number of points scored.
