Wichita State

It feels like just yesterday that Wichita State entered the NCAA Tournament undefeated, but so much has changed in the seven years since. Gregg Marshall is no more, but Isaac Brown has done a fantastic job this season in his place. The Shockers have also moved onto the AAC, though the American is really struggling this season. Can the Shockers prevent this from being a one-bid league?

After getting 16-point outings from both Tyson Etienne and Alterique Gilbert, the Shockers got a fantastic boost to their resume, knocking off #6 Houston in their only game of the week. This was by far the Shockers’ best win of the season, besting the AAC’s only premiere program this season.

Their 13-4 record, with a 9-2 mark in the AAC, does look pretty good, but the resume puts them at just 69th in the NET rankings. They’ve won five straight games and haven’t lost in over a month, but there’s still plenty of work ahead for a Shockers team without any solid wins aside from this one.

Nevertheless, with two matchups with SMU ahead, Wichita State has the capability of getting on the right side of the bubble. The conference is really scuffling as a whole, but these Shockers have been a solid addition to the AAC since joining four years ago. The bottom line is that they need to keep winning because none of their remaining games are gimmies.
