Georgia Tech

We could wax poetic about the ACC even further, but instead, let’s focus on the reality of the situation. The league is down this year. There’s no questioning that. It’s at the point where we’re looking at Georgia Tech and wondering if they’re destined for some March Madness magic.

The Yellow Jackets have been up and down this season, but it was all positives this past week. They took care of Pittsburgh at home way back on Sunday, getting 24 points from Moses Wright in the win. Then, Michael Devoe (29 points) and others came to play on Saturday, scoring a near 30-point win on the road against Miami.

Just 61st in the NET at the time of writing, Georgia Tech will see that number rise in the coming weeks if they want to make the postseason. They find themselves 11-8, with that 7-6 mark in ACC play looking not too shabby. Their big win over Florida State back on January 30th looks better with each week, though wins over then-ranked Kentucky and Clemson squads have lost much of their luster.

Schedules change, but if Georgia Tech’s remains the same then they’ll have plenty of chances to prove they belong in the field of 68. It begins with a tough road game at Virginia Tech followed by must-win opportunities at home against Syracuse and Duke, two other teams vying for those precious at-large bids. Can the Yellow Jackets pull it off and make their first NCAA Tournament since 2010?
