NBA Draft 2021: 5 seniors that have helped their draft stock this season
By Matt Melton
Herbert Jones – Alabama
Arguably the current favorite to win SEC Player of the Year, Herbert Jones has improved his jump shot this season turning himself into a legit NBA Draft prospect.
Herbert Jones has done it all for Alabama during his four seasons in Tuscaloosa. Jones is one of the best pure defenders in college basketball, and is exceptional at drawing charges, rebounding, and is a phenomenal passer and ball handler. At 6’8 210 lbs., Jones has had all the intangibles to be a top NBA prospect except for one thing, a consistent jump shot.
That has changed this season as Jones is averaging career highs in 3-point and free throw percentage. Jones only takes 2-point shots right at the rim, which is why his numbers from 3-point range are even more impressive.
Jones came into this season as a 20.8% 3-point shooter during his first three seasons with the Crimson Tide and is currently shooting 52.8% from deep this season. Herbert Jones knew what he had to improve on during his senior season with the NBA Draft looming, and as a player who only made 14 3’s through his first 96 career games, making 19 3’s in 22 games so far this season is helping improve Jones’ draft stock.
With his elite defense, high basketball IQ, and improved 3-point shooting, Herbert Jones has used his senior season to become one of the more interesting all-around NBA Draft prospects.
