24. Virginia Tech Hokies (15-5, 9-4)

The Hokies were another victim of the pause aftereffects, falling to Georgia Tech at home by 16 points. They made up for it by beating the snot out of Wake Forest by 38 points this weekend. Keve Aluma had 23 points, while Tyrece Radford, recently back from a suspension, chipped in with 15 on 5/7 shooting.

With both Florida State and Virginia suffering losses last week, Virginia Tech still has an outside shot at getting the 1 seed for the ACC Tournament. They’ll have to beat upcoming opponents Louisville and NC State to have any hope of that.

23. USC Trojans (19-6, 13-5)

Things started off great for the Trojans this week, beating Oregon by a convincing 14 points. However, up next is the always brutal road trip at Colorado and Utah. A split is a preferred result but USC couldn’t even manage that, losing to both teams by a combined 28 points. Losing to the Buffaloes isn’t bad at all but the Utes is a bad loss on paper.

USC now looks to get back to winning, taking on UCLA and Standford. The game against the Bruins will likely determine who wins the Pac-12 regular-season championship and 1 seed in the conference tournament.

22. Purdue Boilermakers (16-8, 11-6)

The Boilermakers had just one game this past week, a strong 21-point victory over Penn State on the road. Sasha Stefanovic led the way this time with 16 points, one of four players in double figures for the winning side.

Purdue has won three straight games and has quietly risen towards 5th place in the Big Ten standings, one game out of getting a double-bye in the conference tournament. They’ll have to get by both Wisconsin and Indiana at home to have a chance but this young team has been playing some of its best basketball as of late.
