McClung still shined despite the Longhorns stifling defense

McClung has broken free after transferring to Texas Tech from Georgetown. He’s the Red Raiders’ leading scorer with 16.8 points per game. In the one-point loss to No. 11 West Virginia back in January, he put 30 points.

Against the Longhorns, he struggled to find his shot, but that didn’t stop him from making his presence felt. The Longhorns managed to keep him off the box score until late in the first half. Once he knocked down that three to give Red Raiders a 25-24 lead, he was in a rhythm and ready to do his thing.

In the second, he situated himself on the perimeter, and when he got the ball out there, he knocked down those shots. It was also impressive to see how well he ran the fast break. You don’t always have to be the one to score if you start it. In some cases, he was a scorer, trailer, or passer.

McClung needs to finish the regular season strong. The Red Raiders could get a better seed in their respective tournaments if they can beat TCU, Iowa State, and Baylor.

They can win them all if McClung is a significant part of those games.
