LSU

For years, the SEC seemingly belonged to Kentucky and Florida. This season the conference is in full control of Alabama and Arkansas, both of whom have really come together this year. Much of the rest of the team has been a disappointment (especially Kentucky), but it’s been LSU who has emerged as the third-best team in the league.

After last week’s struggles, the Tigers took care of business this week, starting with a nice home win over Vanderbilt back on Tuesday. With 23 points and 10 rebounds, Cameron Thomas had one of his finest games of the year. His Tigers needed his 29-point effort on Saturday as they traveled to and took care of a struggling Missouri squad.

LSU ends the regular season with a solid 16-8 mark, with their 11-6 SEC record good enough for third place. As previously mentioned, these teams have had their struggles, but LSU does have wins over Arkansas and Tennessee as well on their resume. A road loss at Georgia from a week and a half ago is their only really bad loss and LSU has certainly earned their way into the Big Dance.

Alabama and Arkansas are both extremely solid, but LSU can certainly claim to be the biggest contender behind those two. It’d be hard for the Tigers to knock both off in the SEC Tournament, but it’s certainly possible. Either way, Cameron Thomas has been playing fantastically all season and he can spearhead this team to a win or two if they get some good matchups in the NCAA Tournament.
