After the worst week of the season for the Bears, they picked themselves up in a big way on Tuesday. In what might’ve been the best game of the conference slate, Baylor defeated West Virginia, 94-89 in Overtime.

The win clinched the Bears their first Big 12 Championship and the first conference championship since 1950. That year is also the last time Baylor made the Final Four.

Leading the Bears was an All-American performance from Jared Butler, with 25 points and six assists, on 5-11 from beyond the arc. Butler had his worst performance of the year in Lawrence after scoring just five points on 2-9 from the field.

With the Big 12 secured, the Bears were looking to add cushion and prep for the NCAA Tournament with Oklahoma State.

Baylor backed up their conference-clinching win, with an 11 point win over a red hot Oklahoma  State team in Waco. The recipe for a Baylor win was on display, yet again on Thursday. Butler added 22 points, while Matthew Mayer has pitched in his second straight 17+ point performance, as he had 19 off the bench.

Macio Teague added 19 on 7-12 from the field, while adding four rebounds and five assists.

The Bears led by as much as 14 in the contest and controlled the game for the majority of the 40 minutes.

If there was any doubt of the rust, it got put to bed on Saturday. MaCio Teague led the way with 35 points. Teague is the third different player to hit 30 points on the season, with Butler’s 30 against Kansas and Mitchell’s 31 against Kansas State.

After Tech cut the lead to seven with nine minutes left, Baylor would outscore the Red Raiders 26-11 over the next seven minutes to put the game on ice.
