Big 12 Basketball: WVU falls, OK State rises heading into conference tournament
By Andrew Tineo
Previous Games: 61-56 win vs. Iowa State.
Even if it wasn’t the best regular season in Manhattan, Kansas State finished on a high note. Mike McGuirl scored 17 points, alongside Nigel Pack and Dajuan Gordon also eclipsed double figures.
The Wildcats didn’t play the prettiest game of the season, but forced 16 turnovers, while only coughing it up eight times. The Wildcats will continue to be in rebuild mode, while also having a (hopeful) normal off-season next year.
McGuirl is the lone senior on the team and three of the top five leading scorers are freshman. The future of the Kansas State program is in good hands, even if the record did not show this season.
The Wildcats are expected to make an improvement next year and become a middle of the conference team in 2021-2022. For now, Kansas State is expected to play TCU in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
