Scottie Lewis – Florida

Scottie Lewis came to Gainesville as a highly-touted prospect but hasn’t necessarily led the Gators the way most people predicted. Lewis however has turned into a player that is important to determine just how far Florida can go this March.

Lewis is averaging 8.8 PPG on 46.4% shooting from the field but has taken a step back in 3-point and free-throw shooting. Lewis however can affect a game with his defense, athleticism, and playmaking abilities.

While he won’t necessarily go out and score 20+ points a game, Lewis has turned into a sneaky guy for Florida that if you forget about him can make you pay for it. While he has scored under 10 points for most of the season, Lewis has caught fire in some games and scored 15+ points when you least expect him.

Florida is currently projected as an 8-seed according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, and will surely want to improve their seeding to avoid the 8/9 matchup, as well as potentially facing a 1-seed in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament. How do the Gators do that? Win multiple games this week, and if Lewis can catch fire in Nashville, the Gators might just do that.
