Missouri Avoids Upset

Missouri avoided a near upset as they held on to defeat Georgia 73-70 on Thursday night to advance to the Quarterfinals.

Missouri is a very deep and experienced team, and that benefitted the Tigers on Thursday night as they had four different players score in double-figures. Leading the Tigers was Xavier Pinson who had a game-high 17 points, while Missouri also got notable performances from Dru Smith, Kobe Brown, and Jeremiah Tilmon.

Georgia on the other hand saw their season end Thursday night. The Bulldogs received two double-doubles from Sahvir Wheeler and Toumani Camara, as well as 12 points from KD Johnson. The Bulldogs shot 50% from three as a team but missed an opportunity to advance by struggling from the free-throw line and missing a few late shots.

While this wasn’t Missouri’s best performance of the season it was encouraging to beat a quality Georgia team before they face a red-hot Arkansas team next. Can the Tigers pull off the upset, or are the Hogs too much?
