Colgate over Arkansas Most-Likely Big First Round Upset

If you had to pick the most-likely major upset in the Round of 64, it’s 14-seed Colgate over 3-seed Arkansas.

The Razorbacks are a 3-seed for a reason. The Hogs finished 2nd in the SEC at 22-6 overall (13-4 SEC), and lost in the SEC Tournament Semifinals in a game that snapped Arkansas’ 12-game conference winning streak. Arkansas has all the pieces needed to make a deep run, but is Colgate an upset waiting to happen?

Colgate finished 14-1 as the Patriot League Champions. The Raiders won 13 games in a row to end the season, and have all the pieces needed to pull off this upset. Colgate is ranked #9 in the NET rankings and is an elite offensive team averaging 86.4 PPG, which ranks 2nd in the country only behind top-ranked Gonzaga. The Raiders are also led by guard Jordan Burns averaging 17.1 PPG on 40+% shooting from two and three-point range and is a near 90% free throw shooter.

Arkansas is one of the sleeper teams that could go on a run and win the NCAA Tournament. They also are a team that is very capable of being upset in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, especially with an elite offensive Colgate team on the other side.
