Other teams with no chance of winning

49. Wichita State (16-5): The Shockers, who were among the last four teams into the tournament, have dealt with a lot of adversity this year.

48. Georgetown (13-12): The Hoyas are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time under Patrick Ewing, thanks to an improbable run through the Big East Tournament. G-Town really has one hope of extending their season, which is to continue to knock down perimeter shots and play lockdown defense as they did on the way to earning an automatic bid.

47. VCU (19-7): The Rams have a star in point guard in Nah’shon Hyland, but they struggle with turnovers and defensive rebounding, as well as fouling.

46. Oklahoma (15-10): The Sooners are in the tournament for a third straight season and the seventh time under Lon Kruger.

45. Missouri (16-9): The Tigers are an extremely veteran-laden team that struggles from the 3-point and foul line.

44. Clemson (16-7): The Tigers will need to fix their offensive issues if they are going to make any noise in the NCAA Tournament.

43. Rutgers (15-11): The Scarlet Knights, making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1991, have lost five of nine. RU is strong around the rim on both ends though they do struggle to rebound the ball defensively and to shoot overall. Guard play and Myles Johnson are things to watch.

42. Villanova (16-6): The Wildcats can shoot the ball and are outstanding on the defensive glass, but they don’t defend, which is a surprise under Jay Wright. Plus, Villanova will be without star guard Collin Gillespie.

41. Maryland (16-13): The Terps are talented, but they come into the tournament having lost three of four.

40. North Carolina (18-10): The Tar Heels are solid defensively but struggle on the offensive end.

39. Florida (14-9): The Gators have the talent, and Tre Mann has developed into a go-to-guy, but they just aren’t good enough without Keyontae Johnson.

38. Loyola -Chicago: The Ramblers are in the tournament for the second time in four years. LUC has Cameron Krutwig, who is a load down low, and they are tough on the defensive end. The big question is can they score enough points.

37. Liberty (23-5): The Flames have a tough opening game against Oklahoma State, but if they were somehow able to get past the Cowboys, they could be a tough out. Liberty, which defends well, has given Purdue along with TCU and Missouri all they could handle.

36. UConn (15-7): The Huskies, 7-7 in quad 1 and 2 games, are led by James Broughtright and are outstanding on the offensive glass. However, they are not a great shooting team and struggle to keep opponents off the offensive glass as well as with fouls.
