Memphis Tigers

Memphis certainly hasn’t been afraid of transfers during Penny Hardaway’s tenure. Last season, the team brought in three, although Ahmad Rand didn’t last particularly long with the Tigers.

Next year should be a big one for Memphis. They made a late run at the NCAA Tournament this season and did so without any seniors. 247 Sports also ranks their recruiting class as the No. 6 class in the country.

Things haven’t gone to plan under Hardaway in Memphis, from this season’s missed dance to the James Wiseman drama. Bringing in Jamison Battle could be the last domino to fall for the Tigers to finally breakthrough.

Minnesota Golden Gophers

Battle is a native of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, and played high school ball at DeLaSalle. Who doesn’t want to move closer to home during the throes of a global pandemic?

Minnesota has had some success on the transfer market lately. Liam Robbins, Brandon Johnson, and Both Gach all played significant roles this year after coming over as transfers. Marcus Carr is also a former transfer and current star.

Richard Pitino is no longer the head coach at Minnesota. It was unclear if that would be the case next year, but Pitino appears to be on the move, leaving a vacuum to be filled.

Whoever replaces Pitino is going to want to have a big first year. Jamison Battle could provide the key to get the Golden Gophers back into the NCAA Tournament.
