Virginia Tech Hokies

The Virginia Tech Hokies finished the regular season at 15-6, 9-4 in league play with a 3rd place finish and are currently ranked the 25th best team in the country. Under 2nd-year coach Mike Young the Hokies started the season 11-2 before going 4-4 down the stretch. The Hokies earned a 10 seed and will take on Florida a 7.

They are led by Keve Aluma who was a 2nd team all-ACC selection. The 6’9 transfer forward from Wofford averaged 15.6 points to go along with eight rebounds. He was really important when he was on the court for the Hokies, he led the rotation players in offensive and defensive rating.

Tyrece Radford, who received ACC honorable mention contributed 11.9 points per game. Where the Virginia Tech Florida matchup is gonna be interesting is when Florida has the ball. In league play, Virginia Tech finished with the number 1 adjusted defense. They were 2nd in keeping the other team off of the offensive glass and finished 4th in effective field goal percentage.

Florida, on the other hand, is a really good shooting team that finished 4th in SEC play in three-point percentage and first in two-point percentage. This is a strength-on-strength match-up with how well-coached Virginia Tech is to go along with their defense they have a chance to pull the upset.
