NCAA Tournament 2021: 5 sleeper teams that can make a deep run
By Tobias Bass
Wisconsin Badgers (17-12)
Analytically Wisconsin should never lose. If you look at their analytics you would think they win every game. They don’t turn it over, they don’t give up second shots, and they run good offense. However, they aren’t playing winning basketball right now.
Having said that, the Badgers rank 34th nationally in offensive efficiency, scoring about 110 points every 100 trips. Defensively, they allow 88 points for every 100 possessions as they are ranked 12th overall in defensive efficiency.
Wisconsin does a great job of preventing opponents’ offensive rebounds and second chances. They have a rating of 8.40 in potential points allowed off of second chances (ranked first in the country), and they allow opposing teams to convert just 2.4% of their second-chance opportunities (ranked sixth).
North Carolina will not be a pushover for the Badgers in the first round, but watch out Baylor. The Badgers have a history of knocking off 0ne-seeds from the eight-line in the past. Most recently in 2017 as they beat Villanova.
