Auburn Tigers

If there is one team on this list that needs a player like Nimari Burnett the most, it’s the Auburn Tigers.

The Tigers had a rough 2020 season where they finished 13-14, as well as the offseason off to a rough start as it looks it Auburn will lose their top 4 guards. The Tigers have already lost Justin Powell and Jamal Johnson to the NCAA Transfer Portal, while it seems almost inevitable that star freshman Sharife Cooper will be a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. Starting guard Allen Flanigan also has a decision to make as he is being projected as a First Round pick in a few NBA Mock Drafts.

While there is currently uncertainty on the Plains for the guard position next season, potentially adding Burnett would be massive for the Tigers. The only 100% guaranteed impact guard on Auburn’s roster for next season is recent Charleston transfer Zep Jasper, and adding Burnett would immediately give the Tigers two quality guards in their backcourt.

While being the Tigers’ top guard would be intriguing enough, playing with Auburn’s front-court talent next season will be the most enticing. Pairing Burnett with incoming top 5 player nationally Jabari Smith, as well as Jaylin Williams and Devan Cambridge would be a must-see. Add in a potential return of JT Thor and the Tigers would have one of the most imposing frontcourts in the SEC playing alongside Burnett.

While it may be considered a long-shot to happen, Auburn is a team that could use a commitment from a player like Burnett the most. Could the Tigers surprise everyone and land the former 5-star?
