Connecting on shots early controlled the momentum

When it comes to hot starts, it’s the second consecutive game, where the Bears have secured the momentum.

Baylor had more three-pointers made in the first half than Houston had field goals made in total. It was Butler that drained four, and a big part of the success was the passing from Davion Mitchell. Mitchell finished with a school-high 11 assists in the first half.

Mitchell was excellent with his passing as his overall NBA draft stock has soared over the last month. So much to where, he is a consensus lottery pick, after not testing the waters last off-season.

17 bench points, led by Mayer’s nine points on 4-9 shooting in the first 20 minutes has been key all season. It was present once again.

A key in winning the national championship will be the bench. If they perform to the level they did in the first half, alongside the rest of the offense, Baylor is more than capable of hoisting their first national championship in program history.
