Best/Worst Moments of the Season

One of their worst moments came early when Maryland basketball started 1-5 in Big Ten play. Turgeon said that he didn’t start having fun until the winning streak, and it’s true. Losing is no fun, especially in what was considered to be the best conference in basketball during the regular season.

Being swept by Michigan was pretty bad as well. It didn’t help matters that Hunter Dickinson talked trash about the Terps in the media and taunted them on the court while he dropped 26 points and 11 rebounds.

Franz Wagner injuring Morsell’s face added more fuel to the fire, and then it boiled over in the Big Ten Quarterfinals with a bench-clearing altercation. The tension between these two teams had all the makings of a rivalry.

The Terrapins did get hot at the right time, and they made the NCAA Tournament. No one expected them to beat the Connecticut Huskies, and they did. A second-round exit is technically a bad thing but let’s face it, the Alabama Crimson Tide were the superior team, so you can’t fault the Terps for that loss.

How did the Terrapins do?

This season wasn’t pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Maryland basketball did well considering the circumstances of their roster and the COVID-19. Ayala, Wiggins, Morsell, and Scott played very well. They also beat three ranked teams on the road, which isn’t an easy feat, showing the team’s togetherness because playing on the road in any conference is tough, let alone ranked opponents.
