NCAA Basketball: Breaking down the 5 finalists for transfer Jayden Gardner
By Matt Melton
NC State Wolfpack
After finishing the 2020-2021 season at 14-11 overall ending in an NIT Quarterfinal loss, the NC State Wolfpack will be looking for better results next season, and the potential addition of Gardner would help those chances.
The Wolfpack will return two of their top four leading scorers in forwards Jericole Hellems and Manny Bates, while also returning a few quality younger players. NC State also brings in a recruiting class that ranks among the Top 25 nationally headlined by 4-star’s Ernest Ross and Terquavion Smith.
Gardner would bring not only guaranteed experience and production but would have a chance to play alongside what should be a talented Wolfpack roster next season.
The Wolfpack have only made one NCAA Tournament appearance in the previous six seasons. If NC State wants to get back to their winning ways next season, a potential addition of Gardner would be a massive pickup for head coach Kevin Keatts and the Wolfpack.
