NCAA Basketball: Way-too-early top-25 power rankings for 2021-22 season
We can’t be 100% sure when it comes to seniors right now but if they all do leave, Oregon will have to replace the massive amount of production from Eugene Omoruyi, LJ Figueroa, and Chris Duarte, the team’s three leading scorers.
The good news is that the Ducks do have a pair of rising seniors coming back who did average double figures in Eric Williams and Will Richarson. Point guard transfer Aaron Estrada is still on the roster but there are a few questions regarding the frontcourt and overall depth.
Oregon lost former five-star recruit N’Faly Dante midway through the year with an injury, with Franck Kepnang stepping up with minutes. Both could be breakout candidates in the right scenario but one could be leaving if not the starting at the center position.
At the power forward spot, it’ll likely be another five-star prospect in incoming freshman Nathan Bittle. Joining him is Isaac Johnson, a former top-40 stretch forward recruit that is coming back from a two-year mission for the Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. The frontcourt is loaded with talent but is unproven at the Pac-12 level.
With a few other end of the bench players transferring so far this offseason, Oregon will be looking to add more talent to have some depth. If Richardson can be an effective true point guard and the frontcourt is as good on the court as it is on paper, this team won’t suffer much of a drop-off at all.
