5. The Beavers head to the Elite 8

Even in what was perceived as a weak conference, Oregon State was considered an afterthought. They didn’t play great during the regular season, but the conference tournament came and they became the best team in the PAC 12.

They ran through the tournament to get the automatic berth for the conference and grabbed a 12 seed. They then proceeded to run through Tennessee, Oklahoma State, and Loyola, Chicago before finally coming up just short to Houston in their bid to make the Final Four.

While they were playing better, nobody saw this coming. But the Beavers used a balanced attack and were outstanding on offense. They overwhelmed their opponents and were never really tested in their first three games.

The Beavers were one part of the surprising tournament run for the PAC 12 and probably the most surprising.  It was a great couple of weeks for Oregon State and one that came up just a few steps short of the ultimate tournament upset.
