Edward’s ability to score late in the shot clock

Numerous times throughout his sophomore year, the points addressed previously come into play. However, it’s more often how crafty of a scorer he is, with the shot clock winding down.

There are some players in the Big 12 in the past that have scored late in the clock, at an extremely high rate. A few notables include Baylor’s Makai Mason and West Virginia’s Jevon Carter.

He scores near the rim and beyond the arc, with the shot clock winding down. More so with his three-point shots, he scores in different ways.

Off ball screens, spot-up shooting, in transition, Edwards can put the ball in the hoop and is gifted. With an expanded role and experienced players around him to get him the ball, Edwards should thrive in the system under Kelvin Sampson.

Standing at 6’4, Edwards can play bigger than his size at times, and has been overlooked by national media outlets over the past few seasons. With his transition to Houston, the expectation is for Edwards to be the man and among the best complete players in the conference.

Not only will his defense translate, but a more efficient offense should be the expectation. When it comes to team success, Houston should not fall off too much, and a large part of that will be Edwards filling in and being in the position he has been longing to be in the previous six years… a star.
