Big Ten Basketball: Way-too-early power rankings for 2021-22 season
By Adam Childs
Matt Painter just seems to get this team rolling every year and that was no exception last year. A team not many people were talking about, finished fourth in the Big Ten and beat Ohio State twice in the regular season.
Trevion Williams was an absolute beast down low and freshman Jaden Ivey played above expectations. Add is freshman big-man Zach Edey and this team was a force.
Williams has declared for the draft but could return and if he does the Boilermakers could be a top-five team in the country. They play great defense, get enough outside shooting, and can dominate you down low. That is a very good combination.
The Boilermakers have also proved they can come back from deficits. They were one of the best second-half teams in the country and had numerous comebacks. If they can figure out their first-half woes they will be a dangerous team.
Purdue is going to be a trendy pick to win the Big Ten and make in the run the tournament next year.
