Phlandrous Fleming, Jr. – Charleston Southern

2020-21 stats: 20.1 pts, 7.4 rebs, 2.3 asts, 1.8 stls

You probably haven’t had the chance to see many Charleston Southern games which is too bad because Phlandrous Fleming, Jr. is a treat. The 6-4 senior led the Buccaneers in scoring (20.1), rebounds (7.4), steals (1.8), and blocks (0.9) last season.

One thing people will learn about Fleming, he loves to shoot. Two seasons ago he put up 477 shots when he averaged 17.7 points per game and this past season 147 of his 299 field-goal attempts came from beyond the arc despite being just a 29% shooter, although he shot a career-best 32% last year.

Fleming will be an offensive threat for the Gators, but he is at his best inside the arc where he shot nearly 47% in that category last season. He is a volume scorer who ranked 36th in the country in possession percentage and 9th shot percentage according to KenPom.

But not only does Fleming, Jr. have one of the best names in the sport and a big offensive game, he is an extremely strong defender as well, earning the Big South’s Defensive Player of the Year award last season. Adding a perimeter defender will help Florida maintain one of the best three-point defenses in the country, last season they held opponents to just 31% from behind the arc.
