Myreon Jones – Penn State

2020-21 stats: 15.3 pts, 2.7 rebs, 2 asts, 39.5 fg%, 39.4 3p fg%

The other two guys that White added through the portal were added in hopes of making Florida more of a threat from distance. Myreon Jones led Penn State in scoring last season and really came on after his freshman year. He was thrust into the starting lineup as a sophomore and never looked back, scoring 13 per game that year and a team-leading 15.3 last season.

Over the past two seasons, Jones is a 39.9% three-point shooter, a number that would have third on the Gators last season, 0.5% points behind the leader Noah Locke. He also learned how to be a more efficient scorer, after shooting under 30% as a freshman, that number was 44.4% in his second year and 39.4% last season.

Jones had a solid season in 2021, but his 2020 season is where he blossomed after becoming a starter. After very limited action in his first season, he scored 13 and shot over 44% from the field and 40% from deep, improving 15% and 13% respectively over his first year. If last year’s percentage dips are more of a factor of a disjointed season than a trend, then Jones becomes a guy that defenses can’t help off of when he is on the floor.
