NCAA Basketball: Analyzing 8 team options for top 50 C Donovan Clingan
Michigan Wolverines
Just a few days after making the top 11 for Jalen Duren, the Wolverines again make the top eight list for another highly rated frontcourt recruit. Michigan has been another team with a lot of success in the frontcourt with Hunter Dickinson.
Michigan doesn’t have any 2022 commits yet but has made the final lists for quite a few top-rated recruits. Clingan likely isn’t a top priority for Michigan but if the dominos fall the right way they certainly wouldn’t scoff at his skill set.
Howard has been an excellent recruiter early on in his coaching career, Clingan had some high praise about the Wolverines after a long Zoom meeting with the staff.
UConn Huskies
UConn has to be one of if not the favorite here early, the Bristol native has been on the Huskies’ radar for quite a long time. Dan Hurley has been recruiting Clingan hard and it’s no surprise he wants to keep Clingan at home. UConn has had a lot of success on the recruiting trail as of late with Akok Akok, Adama Sanogo, and Samson Johnson.
There’s a chance that all three could still be there in 2022 in theory making for what could be a crowded frontcourt. Clingan in the past has said he has a great relationship with Dan Hurley. He’s also mentioned that despite being the hometown team it doesn’t change anything, we’ll wait and see just how true that is. Early on UConn appears to be in a good spot moving forward.
