Miami Hurricanes

Jim Larranaga’s squad is a stone’s throw down the road from Montverde Academy relative to the other options on the table. Last season’s recruiting class showed signs of growing potential for the program, but much like the events of recent seasons, the Canes have been ravaged by injuries. Star guard Chris Lykes and top recruit Earl Timberlake Jr both missed significant time on the court last year and derailed what could have been a very competitive roster.

Despite losing productive big man Nysier Brooks to the transfer portal this offseason, Miami still has 3 frontcourt options to rely on next year: Sam Waardenburg, Rodney Miller, and Deng Gak. The issue resides with the fact that none of these options have put together a strong season from a statistical point to be exciting options for the Canes. The team will need better production from their starting center to work towards improving in the tough ACC.

Adding Duren will undoubtedly do that for Larranaga. The program has not had a frontcourt talent of his caliber in quite some time and would instantly help to transform the program off of the conference floor. Duren would be the go-to star for Miami, but the likelihood of him stepping foot on campus is not high.
