Kansas Jayhawks
The Jayhawks put together a strong campaign, but by normal standards, there were too many disappointments. Kansas was blown out in over half of their losses and predominantly to teams that featured a talented big man. Early foul troubles for David McCormack did not help them correct those issues and a general lack of depth at the position further dug the Jayhawks into a hole.
Head coach Bill Self has worked tirelessly this offseason to help ensure that area is fixed by signing a quartet of powerful and versatile frontcourt weapons: 4-stars KJ Adams and Zachary Clemence are joined by top-10 JUCO player Sydney Curry and Cam Martin.
Adams and Clemence each have significant experience at the top levels of grassroots and are ready to contribute however the team needs. Self will want to avoid a glaring hole in his roster however in years to come and find a way to lockdown Kijani Wright is near the top of his priority list.
The last several notable big men to role through campus have not provided overwhelming offensive versatility to complement their strong defensive tendencies. However, that may be an area where Wright is able to change the narrative.
He is an explosive and reliable rebounding threat for the team to count on, but his growing ability to consistently take and knockdown perimeter looks is a wrinkle Kansas would love to have in their back pockets when games begin. There is so much about his game that Jayhawks fans will come to love.
