10. G Izaiah Brockington – Penn State Nittany Lions

2020-21 stats: 12.6 ppg, 4.9 rpg and 1.7 apg

The 6’4 guard was a starter at Penn State this past season and had a great start, including a 24-point scoring effort against Virginia Tech. Brockington struggled in the ladder half of last season but proved that he can be an effective scoring option for most programs in 25-30 minutes a night.

The one concern for teams looking to add Brockington is that he’s not a great shooter, making just 12 three-pointers overall on just 28% shooting. But he’s a great slasher and can get to the free throw line and cause opponents foul trouble. If paired with another shooter guard, Brockington can help unlock a team’s offense.

9. G Bryce Thompson – Kansas Jayhawks

2020-21 stats: 4.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg and 1.1 apg

The former five-star combo guard prospect had 12 points in the season-opener against Gonzaga and looked like he’ll be a future star. Thompson couldn’t get back to that level the rest of the way, scoring double figures just twice the rest of the way. He certainly isn’t the first former five-star recruit to struggle with the Jayhawks but between the lack of a real preseason and having upperclassmen guards to play behind, Thompson never could get things going.

The ultimate hope is that Thompson ends up like another former Jayhawk in Quentin Grimes, who ended up as a star and leading the Houston Cougars to their first Final Four in decades. He developed into an elite three-point shooter and scorer overall as well. Thompson has the raw skills to be a future star and it’ll be interesting to see where he lands.
