Scholarship Players

Michigan State has had four players enter the transfer portal in guards Rocket Watts, Foster Loyer, Jack Hoiberg, and forward Thomas Kithier. Kithier and Hoiberg have already announced the schools that they are transferring to.

Senior guard Joshua Langford could have come back for another season and his scholarship would not have counted against the 13 scholarship limit be he decided to not pursue basketball collegiately or professionally moving forward. Wing and star player Aaron Henry has declared for the NBA Draft and he was regarded as the Spartan’s best overall player last season.

There is near a zero percent chance Henry withdraws from the NBA draft and only an outside chance Watts returns. That leaves the Spartans with two available scholarships for the 2021-22 season. However, let’s look at the current players expected to be on next season’s roster.

Guards

*AJ Hoggard: Sophomore, expected to be a key reserve and be the back up to Walker
*Tyson Walker: Transfer, expected to start at point guard
*Max Christie: Incoming freshmen, has potential to start at the shooting guard position
* Jaden Akins: Incoming freshmen, will compete with Hoggard for the backup point guard position

Wings

*Gabe Brown: Senior, expected to start and be the main contributor this season
*Pierre Brooks: Incoming freshmen, expected to back up Brown

Forwards

*Malik Hall: junior, expected to compete for the starting power forward spot and may play the small forward position as well.
*Joey Hauser: senior, expected to compete with Hall for the starting power forward spot
*Julius Marble: sophomore, expected to be the backup and play a key role player and may play at the center spot as well.

Centers

Marcus Bingham Jr.: senior, expected to start at the center position
Mady Sissoko: sophomore, expected to be key reserve at the center position

Guards
