Bryce Thompson. 3. player. 462. . .

Bryce Thompson

Info: Player Profile

Background:  Thompson was five-star rated and Mcdonald’s All-American coming out of high school.  His freshman season at Kansas did not go as well as planned partially because of suffering two injuries but also when he did play did not put up the most impressive offensive stats.

Eligibility: He will be immediately eligible as a sophomore for this upcoming season.

His Strengths: He has talent and at 6’5 has good size for a guard. Thompson when fully healthy can get back to the form of being an all-around offensive player as he showcased in high school and be very productive for a new team.

Why Michigan State needs him: Thompson entered his freshman season like many others where Covid protocols limited fans in the arena’s and it was not the traditional experience for freshmen athletes. He suffered two injuries as well and at Kansas, expectations are very high for their incoming freshmen especially for student-athletes like Thompson where a lot was expected from him. The Spartans would give him a chance and opportunity to flourish in Izzo’s offense and he would be a great addition for Michigan State.

Tre Mitchell

InfoPlayer Profile

Eligibility: Mitchell will be immediately eligible as a sophomore for this upcoming season.

His Strengths: He had an outstanding freshman season that earned him the honor of being named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year. He at 6’9 and 240 pounds demonstrated he scored 30 or more points three times last season and had two games where he registered three blocked shots. He is a post big man that scores and has shown the ability to distribute the ball and even get a couple of steals on the defensive end.

Why Michigan State needs him: He is almost exactly what Michigan State is looking for in a big man who can score in the post and not be a liability on defense. He was a top 100 recruit coming out of high school and turned down many power five schools to play for UMass. Mitchell would be a great addition to the Spartans frontcourt who is looking for a proven scorer.
