Top 10 potential NCAA Basketball options for Arizona State transfer Remy Martin
San Diego State Aztecs
After losing a ton of talent via graduation this offseason, the Aztecs have been busy in the transfer portal, landing four players. Three are decent frontcourt contributors, along with All-Pac 12 guard Matt Bradley from Cal. He’s another former star player from the league who picked San Diego State, joining Malachi Flynn from Washington State a couple of years ago.
We know how that ended for both sides. The Aztecs had one of their best seasons of all time, while Flynn was Mountain West Player of the Year, All-American selection, and eventual 1st round NBA Draft pick. We didn’t see that when he was at Wazzu. Martin could follow that pathway and get to go back home to California and play closer to home.
USC Trojans
If Martin really wants to go back home, the Trojans would be the ideal landing spot. They’re another Pac-12 program that is in big need of a point guard, coming off a season where the leading passer averaged just 2.8 apg. The team did add Memphis guard Boogie Ellis, who also came back home as well.
But he isn’t much of a true point guard either and Martin would be a major upgrade over Ethan Anderson. With star forward Isaiah Mobley off to the NBA, USC will be in huge need of scoring production from the backcourt. Martin can be plugged right in and have a major impact, along with the opportunity of playing against his former Sun Devils a couple of times next year.
Again, there’s a real possibility that Remy Martin doesn’t come back to college and stays in the 2021 NBA Draft. But if he does, it’ll be major news and have coaching staffs scrambling to try and land the 5th year transfer. If that happens, I predict that one of these 10 programs will be the lucky winner in the sweepstakes.
