NCAA Basketball: 5 way-too-early winners of class of 2022 recruiting cycle
By Matt Melton
Baylor Bears
After Baylor won a national championship during the 2020-21 season, the Bears are bringing in arguably their best recruiting class this coming season in recent memory.
Guess what? That same momentum is beginning to carry over to the 2022 class as well.
Coach Scott Drew and the Bears have only one current commit in their 2022 class in 4-star SG and Top 50 national player Dillon Hunter. Hunter recently spent the 2020 high school basketball season playing at Ypsi Prep Academy (MI), and has been committed to the Bears since February of 2021
While Hunter is a phenomenal first recruit to land in your class, the defending national champs are linked to a few notable other highly touted recruits. These include previously mentioned 5-star guard Cason Wallace and 4-star center Vince Iwuchukwu, both of whom are rated as Top 30 players nationally.
Baylor is set to bring in one of their best recruiting classes ever directly after winning a national championship. Are they correlated? Maybe or maybe not. I do know however that the Bears are beginning to build momentum on the recruiting trail that will help them for years to come.
While it is still way too early on in the 2022 recruiting cycle, these five programs in particular have put themselves in phenomenal positions early on to have success over the next year.
