An inside look at Belmont Basketball star forward Nick Muszynski
Basketball started early for Muszynski
When kids begin playing sports, they usually take one of two paths. Play one sport and concentrate on that, or play as many as they can before settling on the one that they like most. For Belmont’s Nick Muszynski it was definitely the latter. The Ohio native played seemingly every sport from volleyball to swimming and of course basketball.
Muszynski was a self-described late bloomer when it came to basketball. There were times when his skill set didn’t jive with what some thought his growing frame should be producing. From an early age Muszynski began playing hoops, he remembers, “I remember losing my first tooth around half court of my first game. The game’s going on and I’m yanking out my tooth at half court, running around I give it to my mom in the bleachers.”
After trying many sports, Nick would eventually decide on basketball, says, “I played year-round then in 5th or 6th grade started playing with a local AAU team and it just kinda grew from there.” But no matter what sport he played he opined, “the love for the game was there from day one when I was losing my tooth at half court.” This Ohio sports fanatic would grow, not only in height, but his game would grow and along the way so would opportunities.
