The big man was a big fan of the Miami Heat

Nick is a big family man and like most young kids he was influenced most by his parents. But even at a young age, he was very aware of the sacrifices that parents make so that their children have the opportunity to play sports. “They made it (sports) accessible for me. Kids can play sports and you want to play sports but, parents have to make sacrifices. They have to leave work early and drive you all across God’s green earth. They made it possible for me to play and compete.”

When it comes to basketball, Nick was struck by a team a lot of kids his age were, “I fell in love with that Dwayne Wade, Shaquille O’Neal Heat team that beat the Mavericks in the finals.” He began to fall in love with the game at this time saying, “that early to mid-2000s when Chris Paul was in his prime, the big 3 got formed in Boston, that Heat team I remember watching and I was like wow, I would love to do that one day.”

In order for that dream to come true Nick would have to work, and to some extent work harder than others it would take a bit of time before everything would come together on the court for him.
