2. Kentucky Wildcats

The Wildcats reportedly have an official visit this month with Duren and have been viewed as one of the frontrunners throughout his recruitment. Even reclassifying to play next season wouldn’t change anything, as the program could use a dynamic big with tremendous offensive potential after struggling from the frontcourt last year.

It would possibly cause issues with West Virginia transfer Oscar Tshiebwe, who’d have to come off the bench 2021-22. But that’s not Coach John Calipari’s issue, as this new-look roster has the potential to be a Final Four contender but could use Duren as the “cherry on the top”.

1. Villanova Wildcats

Admittedly, I haven’t heard much talk about Duren being connected to the Wildcats. But if we’re solely talking about each roster, Villanova stands out as the best fit. He’d be the natural replacement for Big East Player of the Year forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl at the five-spot and would essentially give the team an even better roster than they had when they went to the Sweet 16.

With star point guard Collin Gillespie coming back for his super senior season along with the rest of the roster outside of Robinson-Earl, Villanova with Duren would make an argument to be the No. 1 team in preseason for 2021-22. He’d have plenty of touches and play for a head coach in Jay Wright that has as high a reputation for development and winning.

The Wildcats may not be the team that lands Duren in the end but from a roster perspective, this makes complete sense.
